Follow these tips to ensure that your mower will be in tip-top condition come spring:

Clean Thoroughly:

Remove grass clippings, dirt, and debris from the mower's deck and blades. A clean mower prevents rust and maintains performance. 

Empty the Fuel Tank:

Run the mower until the fuel tank is empty to prevent stale fuel from gumming up the engine. 

Change the Oil:

Drain the old oil and replace with fresh oil to keep the engine parts lubricated and prevent corrosion. 

Remove the Battery:

If your mower has a battery, remove and store it in a cool, dry place. This prolongs the battery's life and prevents any leakage. 

Check and Replace Air Filter:

Inspect the air filter and clean or replace if necessary. A clean filter ensures efficient engine performance.

Sharpen the Blades:

Sharpen the mower blades to ensure they are ready for use in the spring. This helps maintain a healthy lawn. 

Lubricate Moving Parts:

Apply lubricant to the mower's moving parts, such as the wheels and pivot points, to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation. 

Store in a Dry Place:

Keep your mower in a dry, sheltered location, such as a garage or shed, to protect it from the elements. If possible, elevate it slightly off the ground to avoid moisture damage. Using a cover can also protect it from dust and debris.

Disconnect Spark Plug:

Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starts and check it for wear. Replace if necessary.

Inspect and Tighten:

Check all nuts, bolts, and screws to ensure they are tight. Inspect the mower for any worn or damaged parts and replace them as needed.

Time for a Service:

Now is also a great time to have your lawnmower serviced by your local Mountfield dealer.

As part of your 5 year warranty, your mower requires a service before the end of the second year and then each year thereafter.
