The impressive SP53 Elite self-propelled petrol lawnmower is powered by a formidable Honda GCVx170 Autochoke engine - perfect for mowing large gardens.
This quality mower features a robust steel chassis and a wide 51cm cutting width making it a firm favourite with Mountfield customers.
The cutting height is easy to adjust using the centralised lever, with a choice of 6 cutting widths available, ranging from 22-80mm. A skid plate is fitted to the front of the cutter deck to help minimise scalping on uneven surfaces and ensuring the best possible finish to your lawn. Grass clippings are blown into the spacious 60-litre canvas collection bag which also features a handy indicator to alert you when the bag is full. Clever!
Alternatively a mulching plug is included if you want to loose the grass collector and mulch instead. Simply insert the plug into the grass chute to finely cut the grass clippings into a nitrogen rich mulch and recycle them back into the lawn. – saving time and money while improving the health of your lawn too!
An integrated front bumper and camlock adjusters make moving or folding the handles for storage as quick and simple as possible.

How should this petrol lawn mower be cleaned after use?
We recommend cleaning the grass cutter in the normal way after each use. Before washing the grass cutter, we suggest that any residual grass or top soil is removed using the special scraper, which can be purchased separately.

What is the cutting height set to on this petrol lawn mower?
The cutting height can be adjusted according to desired grass length. If the grass is very long, we recommend first mowing the lawn with the cutting deck in a higher position. Then, mow the lawn a second time with the cutting height set to the desired grass length. For information on cutting height positions, refer to the "Technical specs" section. The mulching system of this petrol lawn mower allows you to cut the grass into fine pieces, which remain on the lawn, restore nutrients and support growth.
To use this function, turn off the engine, remove the bag, insert the mulching plug provided and set the chassis height so that the grass will be cut to a length that does not exceed a third of the total grass height of the lawn.

To use the side discharge function on this petrol mower, you need to remove the bag, attach the mulching plug and join the deflector to the side of the cutting deck. You can re-attach the bag to the lawn mower, but it is not required for use in side discharge mode.
