Waste Batteries

Batteries are made up of valuable heavy metals which can be reused, however millions of batteries end up in landfill. The toxic contents in batteries mean that they can be hazardous to the environment if not disposed of properly.

Under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, we Stiga Ltd are obliged to take back, free of charge and within a reasonable time, any Industrial batteries supplied to the end user and collect any automotive/vehicle batteries from final holders for treatment and recycling.

Industrial Batteries

STIGA Ltd produces Lead Acid batteries. We are obliged to take back waste industrial batteries supplied to an end user for treatment and recycling.

If any of our customers, or in certain cases other end users, require us to take back Industrial batteries, they should contact us at callcentre@stiga.com, Tel: 0800 669 6325. We will agree the necessary arrangements for the return, proper treatment and recycling of the waste industrial batteries.

Automotive/Vehicle Batteries

Stiga Ltd are obliged to collect waste automotive batteries for treatment and recycling from final holders e.g. garages, scrap yards, end-of-life vehicle Authorised Treatment Facilities, Civic Amenity Sites, etc.

Portable batteries

We also want to encourage consumers to recycle portable batteries and to make them aware of the disposal options available.

You can recycle many household batteries including 6V, D, 9V, C, AA, AAA, button cells, laptop batteries and mobile phone batteries. To find your nearest battery disposal facility please visit recyclenow.

All battery producers in the UK are required to be registered with the Government as part of an EU-wide initiative to increase battery collection/recycling and completely prohibit the landfill/incineration of automotive, industrial and portable batteries. Stiga Ltd is registered as a Producer of Batteries under Registration Number BPRN00537. Stiga Ltd is a member of the Ecosurety producer compliance scheme to ensure that all of our compliance requirements are met.
