Our gardening year moves into October and the daylength shortens as inevitably winter approaches.
There are however plenty of tasks that need our attention for this month, so let’s take a look at what we need to do in the various areas of our garden.
It’s already September, and our gardening season is racing by! Where has the time flown? As the days grow shorter, I'm noticing more signs of autumn appearing throughout the garden.
There is still plenty to do however - lets take a look!
Hi Gardeners! Another month and at the time of writing the weathermen are promising us some real summer weather for August – but don’t hold your breath!
Down here, the garden in Devon is looking okay and fortunately the runner beans are now growing well – too many cool winds have held them back I think!
Let’s take a look at what’s in our garden schedule for August!
July already! Where does the time go?
I suppose we gardeners are never satisfied, but a very wet winter was followed by a similar early spring. Things improved, especially down here in the South-West, but blues skies were accompanied by cold winds – not ideal growing weather!
So let’s hope for a warm, sunny July!
At last the weather seems to be improving and not before time!
So much rain this spring! Trouble is, it isn’t just the rain, it’s the poor light that goes with it. Young plants struggle to grow. Nature though is wonderful thing and as we approach the longest day of the year the improving light now will soon push along young plants growth!
Let’s take look at the various parts of the garden and look at our work schedule for June!
May has arrived and gardeners in many parts of the country are hoping that with it, spring-like weather may finally arrive at last!
Growers lucky enough to have a greenhouse have been able to make a start, but for those relying on sowing direct in the garden, many have been with waterlogged, cold soils.
So let’s be positive, but for sure, we are in for a busy month.
March is with us and already the year is galloping on!
The days begin to lengthen, the temperatures start to rise and the light intensity is increasing too!
It’s going to be a busy time for gardeners. Should the weather allow, we will be outside preparing the ground. If it’s raining, then there’s plenty to do inside with sowings for both flowers and vegetables.
Let’s have a look!
