Here we are in a brand-new year! We have had a funny old start with the weather not being as we’d expect, milder days have been very welcome though to lift our spirits.
If you are reading this, you have survived the heatwave! Adopting a continental way of life and not rushing around so much has had to be the way to go as much as possible during the record-breaking temperatures. It’s been unbearable, thank goodness it’s cooled down and we have had a bit of rain. Not that it really makes a difference to the water table, but it provides a little moisture. This is really an ideal time to water. Like I said last month, if it is so dry any water will just run off. If the ground or pot isn’t bone dry it will absorb.
Summer is keeping us waiting but it’s almost here! Last year the paddling pools and sun loungers were out and the grass was dried to a crisp. This year we have lush green grass but the patio furniture feels like it’s not seen the light of day for an age!
Welcome to November! The weather has been very changeable lately, the milder days have been very pleasant. The year seems to have gone so fast! Christmas is around the corner and we have plans for what we want to sow and grow in the allotment next year.
Welcome to summer! We have been treated to some beautiful weather and the lovely long days have allowed us bonus garden time! Chilling out alone or spending time with friends and family outdoors is a perfect way to relax and switch off.
Choices, choices, there are so many options! What might you like in your salad this summer? What veggies would you like on your plate? Maybe something to add to a smoothie, juice or could it be something to freeze for the winter? With the cost of living going up growing your own is something many of us may consider. Whatever the reasons you want to grow, it should be fun! Get children involved, we all know how much tastier home grown is!
Now it really is getting chilly, winter woolies and waterproofs are back out again! We’re all thinking about doing our best to save energy and keep ourselves warm. Slow cookers, air fryers and heated clothes airers to name a few.
We have had some cold frosty days of late, the gardener within is longing to get out into the garden and get started!
