September: Autumn Lawn Revival: Aerating, Overseeding, and Feeding

Ah, September—the month of mellow fruitfulness and a key time for lawn care. I’m Monty, here to help you prep your lawn for the cooler months ahead.

Monty’s Lawn Tips for September

1. Lower the mower blades:

Gradually reduce the height of your mower blades as the weather cools.

2. Aerate the lawn:

Use a garden fork or aerator to create small holes across the lawn, improving drainage and airflow.

3. Scarify:

Remove thatch and moss by scarifying your lawn. It may look rough initially, but it’ll recover stronger.

4. Feed for autumn:

Apply an autumn lawn feed with lower nitrogen and higher potassium to prepare your grass for winter.

Monty’s Top Tip for September

Overseed after scarifying to thicken up your lawn and fill in any gaps.

Wrapping Up September

September is a pivotal month for lawn care—a little effort now will pay off next spring. Happy gardening, and see you in October!
