Designed with smaller gardens in mind, the Mountfield 2800SH handles perfectly, even in the most restricted areas. Powered by a reliable Honda 389cc engine, this great little ride on has a hydrostatic transmission which gives infinitely variable forward and reverse speeds.
A 71cm/28in working width cutter deck with 7 heights of cut (30-80mm) ensures perfect grass cutting and collection whatever the conditions.
The large capacity grass collector can be emptied from the driving seat or removed to tip on top of a compost heap.
When conditions are suitable, collection and disposal of grass clippings can be eliminated by fitting an optional mulching kit.
Mulching grass is a great feature; it saves so much time and can be more than 30% quicker as there is no stopping work to drive to the tip to empty clippings which also results in a significant fuel saving. Mulching the grass allows the clippings to be recycled, improving the soil as they decompose forming a natural fertiliser high in potash and nitrogen. You will notice a marked improvement in your grass as this fertiliser takes effect over the course of the cutting season. You may well ask “Will I see the mulched grass?” and the answer is “No!” Mulched clippings are blown down into the turf and are not noticeable provided the grass is cut regularly and not on the lowest setting. Some owners prefer to collect grass cuttings on areas close to the house to be certain that children or pets don’t carry them inside, then use the mulching facility on all the other areas.
Switching between collection or mulch modes is extremely simple and takes less than a minute; just remove the collector, insert the *mulching plug into the discharge chute and replace the collector. To return to collection simply reverse the procedure.
Built today for tomorrow, the 2800SH comes with a 5 year manufacturer's warranty and is suitable for gardens of 1-1.5 acres.

Quality Know I have retired my Wife thinks I should take things easy, so I decided to buy myself a ride on mower. I have always had Mountfield Mowers and decided to get a Mountfield rider mower. I Went to the Guy down the Road who always services my Mountfield M6 and asked his advice he pointed out a couple of Tractors but the one that caught my eye was the Mountfield 2800SH it has a 28” cutter deck (just the right size for my garden) Hydrostatic Drive so no Gear changing. It has 170 litre collector, and the great thing for me is that the Mower has a Honda Engine. I have had a lot of Honda cars and they have always been very reliable. With five years warranty on the mower I feel very confidant with my purchase. (Posted on 02/02/2011)
